This is a question many buyers ask when planning their sourcing strategy.
In my view, the answer is not only about price.
Some basic styles with large quantities and stable repeat orders may be more suitable for Southeast Asia, especially when the product is simple, the price target is strict, and the lead time is planned well in advance.
But for some orders, China can still be a better choice.

- Special trims and accessories
- Logo techniques
- Fast sample development
- Small-batch testing
- Frequent revisions
- Customized packaging and hangtags
- Multi-category integration
These projects require stronger supply chain coordination, faster response, and more flexible development support.
Before quoting, I usually look at three key points:
- How complex is the product?
- Does the client care more about price, speed, or stability?
- Is this a basic bulk order or a development project?
The cheapest production base is not always the most suitable one.
The right production plan depends on the product, quantity, timeline, and quality requirements.
